Health Education South West (Peninsula) supervises all postgraduate medical specialist training in the Devon and Cornwall region for Dermatology.
Information about the Specialty
The hospitals involved in this four year course are Truro , Taunton, Torbay and Royal Devon & Exeter.
Usual rotation is 2 years in Truro & 1 year each in RD&E & Plymouth with 1 day per week spent in Torbay . Rotation date is normally the first Wednesday in Monday in August.
During the rotation, sub-specialty skills are acquired in dermatological surgery (Exeter, Truro and Taunton), contact dermatology (Truro) Paediatric dermatology (Exeter) and photo-dermatology (Torbay). A dermatology research facility is available in Truro. However ‘out of programme experience’ is encouraged if trainees wish to conduct research elsewhere.
