Local curriculum and training delivery – medical rotations
Internal Medicine Trainees (IMTs) will spend four mandatory months each in Acute Medicine, Eldercare medicine and Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) during their IMT1 and IMT2 years. The other specialties available in the rotation are Cardiology, Respiratory medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Renal Medicine and Haematology. Royal Cornwall Hospital is well known for its friendly and approachable consultants .Trainees will be able to attend clinics both in their speciality and other specialities through pre arrangement by the trainees. Each speciality has its own weekly teaching programme. There is in addition a weekly medical grand round. IMT trainees will have a monthly local training day and the topics are chosen by the trainees themselves. Trainees will be able to participate in our extensive Simulation Training Programme.

The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad
