IMT TRAINING PLACEMENTS - DETAILED INFORMATION

RECRUITMENT 2024

 This information is about the IMT training posts in HEE South West Peninsula and is applicable to all IMT Peninsula posts being appointed in 2022 except where specifically stated differently.

 

  IMT Training years 1 & 2

 

  • All of the IMT posts in years 1 & 2 are made up of 6 x 4 month rotations

  • ICM training will be undertaken with IMT years 1 or 2 (post information available in the Oriel preferences).                                     

  • Geriatric Medicine training will be undertaken in IMT years 1 or 2 (with Exception of North Devon placements if not undertaken in IMY1 or 2 it is anticipated that placements will form part of the IMT3 year and likely to be completed at another Trust within the programme).  

    ICM Training

    A minimum of 10 weeks ICM training must be provided by each trust as part of the IMT curriculum. Rotations are in four month blocks so the trusts in the programme have created their own version of the ICM module within the four month placement.  

    ICM Modules by Trust

All ICM modules may be subject to amendment from the information provided below, any changes at your trust you will be made aware of. 

University Hospitals Plymouth

The ICM placement at this trust will be: 3 months fully embedded in the ICM on-call rota, to complete the four month rotation block, this placement will include 1 month of medical on-calls and clinic work.  

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Exeter

The ICM placement at this trust will be: 4 months, fully embedded in the ICM on-call rota.   

Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, Cornwall     

The ICM placement at this trust will be: 4 months, fully embedded in the ICM on-call rota.      

South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, Torbay

The ICM placement at this trust will be: 4 months, fully embedded in the ICM on-call rota.   

North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple 

The ICM placement at this trust will be: 3 months in ICM fully embedded in the ICM on-call rota and 1 month of medical clinical work, ward work and on-calls including a 1 week placement with the palliative care team.                

IMT 3 Training Year

Minimum of 2 x 6 month placements in specialities primarily included in the acute take and functioning as the “medical registrar”. Placement details to be confirmed and may include a rotation to another trust. If for any reason you have been unable to complete your mandated training in IMY1 or IMY2 for the specialties of Geriatric medicine and Intensive Care medicine, these will need to be incorporated into your IMY3
